FAQs

  • Session cost is dependent on the therapist you are seeing. Individual session fees range from $180-190. Sessions are 55 minutes in length. Extended sessions are available.

Couples and family counselling is $200-210 per 55 minute session and $300-315 per 85 minute session, depending on the therapist you are seeing.

We accept e-transfer payments or credit card. Psychotherapy with a Registered Social Worker or Registered Psychotherapist is covered by many insurance providers or extended health benefits. We offer direct billing to many insurance providers.

In the event we cannot direct bill, we will issue a receipt with all of the information you will require for your insurance claim. We recommend checking your coverage with your provider before our first session.

  • One of the most important aspects when engaging in therapy is your comfort and trust in your therapist. You should have a good sense upon our initial session if your therapist is the right fit for you. We offer a complimentary 20-minute phone conversation to determine fit and answer any other questions you may have. BOOK NOW to find out if we are the right fit.

  • Your appointment is reserved just for you. If you are unable to attend your appointment, you are required to provide at least 48 hours advanced notice. A late cancellation leaves a hole in the therapist's day that could have otherwise been filled. As such, the client agrees to pay 100% of the session fee if they cancel their appointment with less than 48 hours notice. Please note, all non-emergency cancellations (e.g. general illness, weather concerns, sudden schedule change, unexpected commitment, forgetting or mistaking the appointment time) will be charged the regular session fee. Virtual or telephone sessions will be offered when it may not be feasible to attend in-person if that was the originally scheduled appointment method. We appreciate your help in valuing your treatment, the treatment of others, and respecting your therapist's time.

  • As registered social workers, we are required to keep all information shared in session confidential. There are some exceptions to confidentiality which include:

    • Disclosure of the intent to harm yourself or someone else.

    • The abuse of a child under the age of 16 or abuse by a licensed professional.

    • If case notes are subpoenaed to Court.

    • If you have signed consent to release information to other care providers.

  • Yes, therapy is highly effective in helping individuals, couples, and families with a wide range of mental health and emotional challenges. While this is a good thing, there are important factors to consider including finding the right treatment approach that matches the concerns, fit between client and therapist, client commitment, and having patience for the process.

  • The duration of therapy can vary widely from person to person and depends on several factors, including an individual’s specific concerns, the type of therapy being used, and the level of engagement. While there’s no set timeline, most clients see me for approximately 12 sessions, with some attending a little less and some attending more. We always encourage open communication so that we can adjust our treatment plan as needed to achieve your desired outcomes.

  • Our clinic location is at 848 Fennell Avenue East. There is a parking lot for the building on East 32nd Street. From the parking lot, you just follow the path to the front door facing Fennell Avenue and come into the waiting area.

  • We use an online portal called Owl Practice which allows clients to book or reschedule their sessions conveniently online. We always encourage clients if they have a specific date/time that works best for their schedule, to book well in advance and even book several sessions at a time to maintain their spot.

  • Not at all! Perinatal mental health is one of our specialities, however there are very often a myriad of things people want to work on whether they are parents or not. Common themes we often explore include: trauma. grief & loss, fear of conflict, burnout, anxiety, depression, lack of support, and boundary setting. There is no limit to the topics we can discuss in therapy, however if something is outside of our scope of practice, we will let you know and we can discuss a referral to an appropriate support.

  • Yes! We offer direct billing to most insurance providers. During your consultation call or first session, we can go over your insurance details and get everything set up.

If your insurance provider does not permit direct billing, we’ll provide you with a receipt containing all the information you need to submit a claim yourself.
