Have You Ever Tried Walk and Talk Therapy?
We would love to offer you the opportunity to experience the benefits of therapy while being in nature together. Let’s get started.
Therapy need not take place only in the office or on Zoom! Join Jessica outside on the beautiful Mountain Brow on the East Hamilton Mountain for a "Walk & Talk" session, Zainab on the Stoney Creek Mountain, Nicole along the waterfront path in Burlington, or Christine on the Hardy Road Trail in Brantford. There are multiple options to take a route that feels most comfortable for you.
Walk and talk therapy in Hamilton and Burlington is a form of psychotherapy that takes place outdoors, typically during a walk in a natural setting. Instead of the traditional office setting, clients and therapists engage in conversation while walking side by side (this form of therapy is sometimes called walking therapy).
What Benefits Does Walk and Talk Therapy in Hamilton Offer?
Walk and talk therapy in Hamilton offers several benefits, combining physical activity with the therapeutic process. I am an approved provider through the Non-Insured Health Benefits program for Indigenous people. If you are a status card holder who is not currently seeing a different NIHB provider for mental health counselling, you will qualify for this program. This program allows me to apply for funding from Health Canada and then bill directly to the NIHB program on your behalf. NIHB does not fund missed appointments.
Two or more late cancellations or no shows can result in termination of services. Clients are encouraged to reach back out when they are feeling more ready if this is the case. Contact me directly for more information on the NIHB program.

Each session costs $180-190. Sessions are 55 minutes in length.
Sometimes we recommend extended EMDR sessions (85 minutes) which cost $270-285.
We accept e-transfer payments or credit card. Psychotherapy with a Registered Social Worker or Registered Psychotherapist is covered by many insurance providers or extended health benefits. We offer direct billing to many insurance providers.
In the event we cannot direct bill, we will issue a receipt with all of the information you will require for your insurance claim. We recommend checking with your provider before our first session.

One of the most important aspects when engaging in therapy is your comfort and trust in your therapist. You should have a good sense upon our initial session if your therapist is the right fit for you. We offer a complimentary 20-minute phone conversation to determine fit and answer any other questions you may have. BOOK NOW to find out if we are the right fit.

Your appointment is reserved just for you. If you are unable to attend your appointment, you are required to provide at least 48 hours advanced notice. A late cancellation leaves a hole in the therapist's day that could have otherwise been filled. As such, the cli‐ ent agrees to pay 100% of the session fee if they cancel their appointment with less than 48 hours notice. Please note, all non-emergency cancellations (e.g. general illness, weather concerns, sudden schedule change, unexpected commitment, forgetting or mistaking the ap‐ pointment time) will be charged the regular session fee. Virtual or telephone sessions will be offered when it may not be feasible to attend in-person if that was the originally scheduled appointment method. We appreciate your help in valuing your treatment, the treatment of others, and respecting your therapist's time.

As registered social workers, we are required to keep all information shared in session confidential. There are some exceptions to confidentiality which include:
Disclosure of the intent to harm yourself or someone else.
The abuse of a child under the age of 16 or abuse by a licensed professional.
If case notes are subpoenaed to Court.
If you have signed consent to release information to other care providers.

Yes, therapy is highly effective in helping individuals, couples, and families with a wide range of mental health and emotional challenges. While this is a good thing, there are important factors to consider including finding the right treatment approach that matches the concerns, fit between client and therapist, client commitment, and having patience for the process.
-
The duration of therapy can vary widely from person to person and depends on several factors, including an individual’s specific concerns, the type of therapy being used, and the level of engagement. While there’s no set timeline, most clients see me for approximately 12 sessions, with some attending a little less and some attending more. We always encourage open communication so that we can adjust our treatment plan as needed to achieve your desired outcomes.
