Hi, I’m Nikki
I work with children, teens, and young adults who are navigating anxiety, big emotions, identity questions, body image concerns, grief, behavioural challenges, and life’s many transitions. I aim to create a space where young people can slow down, feel understood, and start to make sense of what they’re experiencing — a space where they can feel seen and accepted for exactly who they are.
I especially enjoy working with young people whose needs may feel more complex or who haven't necessarily chosen therapy for themselves. This might include teens who are reluctant to engage, young people struggling with significant behavioural or emotional challenges, or youth who have had involvement with the criminal justice system. I’m comfortable meeting resistance with curiosity rather than judgment and taking the time to build trust before expecting a young person to open up. You don't have to arrive ready to talk, motivated to change, or even convinced that therapy will help. We can start exactly where you are.
I also have a particular interest in supporting teens and young adults struggling with body image, disordered eating, or pressures around appearance. I help clients explore how their thoughts and feelings about food, weight, and their bodies affect their emotions and daily life, and we work together to develop healthier, more compassionate ways of relating to themselves. My approach is grounded in evidence-based strategies while also being relational, curious, and strengths-focused, so that young people feel empowered rather than judged.
I draw from DBT and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, working within attachment-based, harm-reduction, LGBTQIA+ affirmative, and trauma-informed frameworks. Every session is tailored to meet you exactly where you are — whether that means building coping skills, navigating social pressures, working through difficult patterns, or finding steadier footing through a challenging season.
As a second-generation Latine clinician and child of immigrants, I hold an understanding of how culture, family, and intergenerational experiences can shape identity, emotional wellbeing, and relationships. I bring this awareness through culturally responsive and trauma-informed care, recognizing that our lives are not only shaped by individual experiences, but also by the relationships, communities, and systems around us.
Outside of therapy, I love discovering new food spots, spending time with my family, and relaxing at home with my cat, Poe.
If you're looking for a therapist who can meet you where you are — even if you're not quite sure about therapy yet — please reach out today.
